Hello everyone! It's Falcon Friday! We hope that this week's game is a big of a surprise for you all. This week we're proud to launch our free mod for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars!

Earth: 2060 – The dawn of a hellish new age, the marauding Strogg, Cyborg soldiers of the evil Makron, have left the world’s major cities as abanadoned smoking ruins. The Strogg come in greed – to Stroggify humanity into spare parts and protein food. The GDF must defeat the ravaging alien hordes, or face extinction.

In Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, you choose which side to ally yourself with. Your mission is either to aid the Strogg in eliminating the GDF and fortifying your stronghold, or you can choose to join the Global Defense Forces in their attempt to surpress and overcome the Strogg scourge. Choose your destiny, and fight to the bitter last in the ultimate Quake wars!

A team of US scientists makes a frightening discovery on an island in the South China Sea. All contact with the team is lost when the North Korean Government quickly seals off the area.

The US responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation. As tension rises between the two nations, a massive alien ship reveals itself in the middle of the island. The ship generates an immense force sphere that freezes a vast portion of the island and drastically alters the global weather system.

It's been a very busy week at the Novint office! Today is Falcon Friday! This week's game is Feelin' It: Arcade Roller.

You’ve never played the arcade classic like this before! Based on one of the first and most popular arcade skill games of all time, Feelin' It: ArcadeRoller is played by rolling a series of balls up the ramp and into the scoring circles for points. Sound easy? Not so fast - we've created dozens of challenging and unique levels that require you to develop real muscle memory and throwing aim with your Novint Falcon. You will even feel the weight and momentum of the ball as you give it a toss! Play it safe by going for the easier slots, or test your skill and accuracy by targeting the more challenging slots. Whichever strategy you choose, you’ll need to develop an actual throwing rhythm when you use the Novint Falcon, just like the real-life game. The only way it could get any more realistic is if a line of tickets came out at the end!

The government responds by sending in its best special operations teams, only to have them obliterated. Live footage of the massacre is cut short by an unexpected wave of destruction that leaves military leaders stunned and in disbelief. This is a mod (modification) to the critically acclaimed, First Person Shooter game, F.E.A.R., and must be run in tandem with a fully purchased version of the game.

Hello everyone! It's Falcon Friday. Today's game is one that I've seen several requests for on the Novint Message Board - CRE8.

CRE8 is a 3D design and molding program that allows you to use your sense of touch to intuitively create and customize any 3D object imaginable. You will have access to a dimensional workspace and when you move the Novint Falcon handle, a 3D stylus tip will appear that will help you mold your creation. Use the various buttons of the Falcon grip to manipulate the view and angle of your creation – allowing you to truly create a 3 Dimensional object intuitively. Simply select the basic shape of an object you would like to create and then the creativity begins! You’ll be able to select from tools such as the eyedropper, paint, group, ungroup, snap, color, and stiffness. They sky is the limit as you let your creativity flow!

The best part of this game is that it's free for Falcon users! So download a copy and enjoy!

Game Preview: Ascension Reborn

Today we're going to take a closer look at Novint's upcoming title, Ascension Reborn. This game is a personal favorite of Novint's CEO, Tom Anderson. Tom has taken a VERY active role in the testing and tuning of this game.

Originally released under the title Advent Rising, this stunning action/adventure game received Gamepro’s Editor’s Choice Award and is now even more powerful for Falcon players. Called “innovative as hell, and the most emotive title to hit any platform in ages," this AAA, third-person sci-fi adventure lets you play the role of a pilot on a historic mission to make first contact with an alien race.

The game features a sweeping storyline created by Hugo and Nebula award-winning author Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game). While playing Ascension Reborn, you'll destroy enemies using a combination of super-human psychic powers, an arsenal of awesome weapons, and a vast array of combat-ready vehicles. Using the Novint Falcon, you'll actually feel the sensation of piloting alien assault vehicles, hover-tanks, and agile aircraft. A few weeks ago Novint's CEO, Tom, and I stopped by Wired's office to give a few editors a sneak peak of the Black Falcon and Pistol Grip. We had a great time meeting the folks over there and they've posted a great review of the Falcon.

Here's my favorite quote:

"Forget fragging as you know it. With the pistol grip coming dangerously close to flying out of your hands after a few quick bursts with a submachine gun, you may wonder how you got along without this level of feedback in the first place. JoWooD Joins Novint's Publisher Lineup

You read correctly! Novint has just signed our FIFTH AAA publisher in four months! We've been keeping Tom, Novint's CEO, very busy! We're really excited to partner with JoWooD and enable some of their most popular titles for the Falcon. Among those titles are their action titles Painkiller and Gothic 3, both of which have sold well over 1 million units. Hi everyone! We're nearing the end of another week and that means we're launching another game. This week's game is Mo The Mole.

It's Mo the Mole versus the falling rocks! Help Mo destroy loose stones before they fall on his head by using your Novint Falcon to toss different-colored gems into the correct slots in the ceiling. You will actually be able to feel the weight of objects, as well as use a real-life tossing motion to cast items into the air. In this puzzle matching challenge, you will need both your wits and your speed in order to save Mo from a dangerous cave-in, so grab your Novint Falcon and dig in!

Novint Takes Over PDX Lan

Hi everyone! Well, Novint recently stopped by Portland for the PDXLAN Event. So what is PDXLAN? According to Aaron from Novint, "other than just a 500 people LAN party, it is also a place for PC gamers to gather and show off their 'pimped out' systems."

Everywhere you looked, there were 28+ inch monitors, water-cooled processors, and massive custom towers. We gave countless demonstrations of BF2, Haptics-Life, and Quake 4 and had a great time talking to everyone. I know for a fact that Aaron's dying to get back there!

Hello everyone! This week was really busy with E3, but we certainly haven't forgotten about Falcon Friday. This week's game is: Chicken Hunter: Chicken A La Kart.

Hi there everyone! Today was a really long, jam packed day at E3! The booth was packed all day today as everyone came by to try out the Falcon. Several of you mentioned that you saw our booth on G4 during some of their new breaks. Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled for us! The Falcon and the Pistol Grip were also photographed by Reuters, so you just might see a picture of the Falcon in your local newspaper.

This afternoon we had an extra special treat when Dane Cook stopped by our booth for a demo. He's a big fan of gaming and he admitted that we "won him over." Very exciting!

Hello from E3! We getting ready to head into Day 2 of the event and the show has already been really busy! We've met a lot of really fun people (I got to meet Olivia from Attack of the Show) and we've been showing off the Pistol Grip, Black Falcon, and early playables of Tiger Woods and Battlefield 2. Novint Falcon Makes Its Movie Debut

Hello everyone! The Falcon made its movie debut over the weekend in Meet Dave starring Eddie Murphy. We met the folks who made the movie a couple of years ago and they asked us to provide a Falcon that they could use in the movie. The movie has been released and we're so excited to be included. Here's a report from Tom Anderson, Novint's CEO:

*** Movie Spoiler Alert ***

In the movie, Dave (Eddie Murphy) is a robot ship that looks like Eddie Murphy and carries its crew to Earth on a mission to save their planet.

Inside the ship (again, disguised as a person), are many tiny people including the captain (also, Eddie Murphy - i.e. the big ship looks like its tiny captain). Towards the end of the movie, some of the crew mutinies and they sneeze the Eddie Murphy captain out. In order to save their world, they have to destroy Earth, but the captain doesn't want to by that point, and he has to get back to the ship (the robot Eddie Murphy) and take back control. He manages to get back in the ship and goes to the engine room, where he enters a code, pushes a button and a panel opens up to reveal the Novint Falcon. Eddie Murphy then grabs the Falcon and pulls it out by the handle. The camera view shifts to a view of him using the Falcon to take back control of the ship (the robot body) therefore stopping the mutinied crew and saving planet earth. Not bad for a movie debut! Nothing like saving humanity in your first big screen movie :)

First Thoughts: Tiger Woods and Battlefield 2

Hello there everyone and happy Wednesday! As promised, I wanted to give everyone a quick overview of my first thoughts of the Falcon enabled versions of EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 and Battlefield 2. I got a sneak peak at the VERY early playables while we (Tom, Novint's CEO, Antonia, Novint's VP of Marketing, and yours truly) were in New York for a press event.

Tiger Woods - let me say this, for some reason I am VERY good at Tiger Woods Golf. It doesn't matter what the platform is, I've got game. Playing Tiger Woods with the Falcon was awesome! Not only can you feel the impact of your club hitting the golf ball, you can even feel the weight of the golf club. If you swing the club and stop in mid-swing you can actually feel the weight of the club. And, true to life, the individual clubs have different weights. So, a driver has a different weight than a pitching wedge. Playing with the Falcon makes the game even more intuitive and it makes me unstoppable!

Battlefield 2 - this was great! Just like in HL2 and the other FPS titles, you can feel the recoil of weapons and the direction that you're being fired at from. In addition, you can feel your footsteps as you run down the hills and you can feel your character getting run over by a tank! That was crazy! I actually screamed the first time it happened because it was so realistic and that darn tank snuck up on me! Just a tip though: don't shoot the medics... I might have done that several times.

Overall, I'm really excited to see the next round of playables from our Games Group. Keep checking back for more updates as I'm headed to E3 next week and I will definitely hit up our games guys for some additional playing time on the EA titles. Until then... happy Falcon gaming!

Novint's Developing WoW Drivers

Hi everyone! We made an exciting announcement today letting everyone know that we're developing drivers for World of Warcraft. The drivers, built using WoW’s LUA Scripting system, will let you feel your character’s actions, spells, enemy attacks and other interactions dramatically enhancing the gaming experience. Novint is also integrating a unique interface in the game which gives players easy access to a customizable selection of spells and other game inventory items, allowing players to intuitively map up to 36 actions to Falcon movements with an in game User-Interface.

We're really excited about this opportunity because it will allow us to bring Falcon compatibility to another 10 million people. When you combine that with our deals with EA and Valve that's a pretty big number (about 30 million). You can read more about the WoW drivers on our Web site. What do you think about the drivers?

Hello everyone! I'm blogging from New York (normally I'm based in San Francisco) and we've had a really great trip so far! This week's game is a bit different from our games in weeks past. This week's game is Newton's Monkey Math. It's Novint's very first educational title and we're really proud of it! Tom (Novint's CEO) has wanted to add educational titles to our game lineup for quite some time, so this is a very special project for him.

Newton’s Monkey Math is a fun, interactive title to help your child improve his or her math skills. Newton will help you learn to solve math problems quickly by challenging you to solve as many math problems as you can during your allotted time. You’ll solve the various math problems by shooting an arrow at the target with the correct answer. Falcon at Intel LANfest

Hello everyone and happy Thursday! I can't believe how fast this week has gone by! We'll be traveling to New York in a couple of weeks for a press event, so we're working hard on making that event a success.

We recently worked with one of our Falcon Friends, Kelley (aka Xeromist on the message boards), to coordinate some demonstrations at Intel LANfest. We coordinated some giveaways and made sure he was hooked up with some of the latest and greatest games for the Falcon. Here's some of the details...

Even though I just had a computer with a little sign in the middle of all the other computers, I lost count at the number of people that came to try the Falcon... several of them came back to play again when it was available. People thanked me for bringing my unit to demo and several had conversations with me about the games, the hardware, and the future of Haptics. As I was packing up one kid came by and asked me "Is that what I think it is?" and he put his stuff down and played with it for about 5 minutes :)

I really only needed Buckshot and XLR8 for demo. Those seemed to be the games that people liked and could easily get into. I mentioned other games including QuakeIV and HL2 but no one asked to play them. The more dedicated gamers enjoyed XLR8 but Buckshot was the favorite with (at one point) 6 people watching someone play.

I want to say a special thank you to Kelley for the awesome update on this event. The pictures are awesome! Would you be interested in giving Falcon demonstrations to your friends or hosting a Falcon "Tupperware Party"? We're working on setting up a program so let us know if you'd be interested!

Hi there everyone. Things have been really busy over here as we recently announced our Penumbra Bundle. Make sure you check it out. Hello everyone! Today's Falcon Friday and we've got something kind of special lined up. Today's game hasn't even been previewed on the Web site. It's Chicken Hunter: Buck Shot. This is part of a series of games that took over Germany.

In Chicken Hunter: Buck Shot you need hunt down all of the chickens that you can. But look out! These are no ordinary chickens and they’re not going down without a fight! Your enemies will fight back and try to psych you out with every opportunity they get, so you’ve got to be on the lookout at all times!

While playing Chicken Hunter: Buck Shot, players will feel weapon recoil when shooting their gun, feel the specific force when interacting with objects, and can use their sense of touch to know when it’s time to reload with ammunition. Falcon Friday is Tomorrow!

Hello everyone! This week has really flown by! Don't forget that tomorrow is Falcon Friday! We're doing things a bit differently this week because we're launching a really exciting 3rd party game - Penumbra: Black Plague HaptX Edition.

Hello Falcon Friends! We’ve been busy updating our Event Schedule. Everyone at Novint LOVES getting out and demonstrating the Falcon to new people. Our latest event is NVGA SuperCon.

The SuperCon is an awesome event that’s going to be held in Albuquerque (the hometown of the Falcon). Novint is going to be hosting several game tournaments during the Con and we have tons of great prizes for the winners. The SuperCon will be taking place May 22 – 25 and the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Here’s what we’re looking at for contests:

Game Preview: Force Fighter

Hello Falcon Friends! Just a friendly reminder that Falcon Friday is only a couple days away. We’re going to launch another game this week so don’t forget to check out the blog on Friday to find out which game is being released.

Speaking of games… we’ve got a ton of new games in the hopper. Today’s game preview is Force Fighter. Winner of the 2005 "Gameolympics" in the Best Newcomer category, Force Fighter puts you in the cockpit of a jet-powered airship for the ultimate flying deathmatch. Pilot your aircraft through rugged terrain in pursuit of your opponents, and then use your arsenal of weapons to blast them out of the skies. With the Novint Falcon, you’ll feel the full force of your firepower, impacts against the terrain, and enemy attacks as you gun for your prey across five detailed gameplay environments. Special scoring system based both on collecting objects and shooting down your opponents, up to 8 player multiplayer, 5 different crafts, and 14 ship upgrades/weapons.

Meet the Falcon!

So… what are you guys doing this summer? Probably hitting up the movies at some point. We wanted to give you all a heads up that the Falcon MIGHT be making a big screen appearance this summer! The Set Decorator of Meet Dave, Eddie Murphy’s new movie, contacted us about using the Falcon as part of the main ship and smaller ship that Eddie Murphy pilots. We’re not about to confirm the placement yet, but if we hear anything, you’ll be the first to know! In the meantime, you can check out the trailer for the movie and some of the pictures we received very early in the production!

Novint Office Hosts Talon Special Ops Deathmatch

Friday was a pretty fun day at Novint's office in Albuquerque. We've been working hard on our new game, Talon Special Ops. On Friday, everyone got together to play the multiplayer version of Talon Special Ops. After talking to everyone, it sounds like it was a lot of fun. The crew played 6v6 and played several types of games - (death-match, team death-match, team domination, and capture the flag). The smack talking started early in the day leading up to the afternoon matches.

Here were some highlights from Tom Anderson, Novint's CEO:

-- One of our employees is 6 months pregnant, so she named her character "Mommy To Be", which I thought was hilarious. It's funny seeing that someone was "... killed by MommyToBe". Also, makes you not want to shoot that character- makes you feel guilty.

-- We separated into the conference room and the programmers area. I loved hearing the roar from the other room when they won, and them calling in to make fun of us. I also loved calling into the other room when we won :)

-- It was really cool experiencing a milestone like that for Novint. It was our first company event like that. Everyone, including non gamers, had a blast.

-- The outdoor environments in Talon Special Ops are beautiful. It was especially fun playing the game, knowing it was one of our titles.

-- The different types of weapons and vehicles (mechs, jeeps, tanks, etc) were a lot of fun for everyone.

-- I spawned at one point right behind someone waiting to capture our flag - they had no idea how I found them (was pure luck) but made me seem pretty tricky.

-- Eric said his mom could take everyone, so Bill called his character "Eric's Mom" which was hilarious.

Sounds like everyone had a great time! We hope to release Talon Special Ops fairly soon, so keep checking back for the announcement!

Novint Falcon To Support Major EA Franchises

You read this correctly! Novint is thrilled to announce that we're teaming up with EA to enable some of their most popular franchises. We hinted about our BIG announcement and some of our friends were so excited that they leaked the story a bit early.

Here are the details... we're going to add several of EA's best-selling computer games to work the the Falcon. Titles will include franchises like Madden NFL, NBA Life, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Need for Speed, and Battlefield. We expect to release these titles for the Falcon later this year. Using the Falcon will bring a brand new life to these games and you'll be able to feel realistic touch sensations like the weight of the ball as it's thrown, the sideways acceleration of a car as it drifts around a sharp turn, or the realistic recoil of a machine gun.

We're extremely excited by what this represents for us! It's always nice to have EA in your corner! Check out the press release on our Web site.

Greetings everyone and happy Thursday! We've got a ton of new games that are about to hit the Game Store so keep checking back!

Today we're going to give everyone a preview of WW11 76mm. In this arcade-style tank combat title, you are a commander of an M4 Sherman tank in the Fourth Armored Division, Patton's best and most elite squadron. From France to Germany, you will destroy opposition from the war's most fearsome tanks, including Panthers, Tigers and Hummels. Engage in nonstop military action with authentic weapons and navigation you can actually feel with the Novint Falcon. Multiple mission styles are included with objectives such as Assault, Escort, Defense, and Rescue. Features include more than 30 objectives over 10 missions, and detailed WWII-era environments.

Novint's Headquarters Taken Over (By Kindergarteners)

We recently hosted a very distinguished group of visitors at the brand new Novint Headquarters. Novint's CEO, Tom Anderson, invited his son's kindergarten class to come and visit the office and learn about haptic technology (it's never too early to start recruiting!). Everyone had a great time and it was a highlight for all of the Novint Employees.
